I approached these characters on 18^th April 1995. They replied with the following letter, minus the manuscript, despite the fact that I had provided a pre-paid SAE specifically for this purpose.

9th May 1995 Dear Sean Copland Thank you for your letter of 18 April 1995 I have carefully considered your proposal for a book and I regret to say, that whilst the topic is certainly an interesting one, I don't think it is right for the OUP list. I am sorry not to be able to write to you in a more positive vein. Thank you, nevertheless, for allowing us to consider your work and I wish you success in finding a suitable publisher.
